Our outbound route departs daily from Tanjung Gemok and stops at five major jetties on Tioman Island β€” Kampung Genting, Kampung Paya, Kampung Tekek, Air Batang (ABC), and Kampung Salang. Why Tg Gemok

Why the Tanjung Gemok route beats Mersing

Tioman SpeedBoat operates exclusively from Tanjung Gemok jetty in Pahang. Four measurable advantages for travellers from Klang Valley, Singapore, and surrounding regions.

directions_car

Closer to KL

Tanjung Gemok is approximately 3.5 to 4 hours' drive from Kuala Lumpur via the LPT2 East Coast Highway. The drive to Mersing typically takes 4.5 hours or more on older, more congested roads.

speed

Shorter sea crossing

At 56 km, Tanjung Gemok is closer to Tioman Island than Mersing. This translates directly into our 60-minute crossing time β€” roughly half the duration of Mersing-based ferries.

timelapse

Faster total journey

Combining the shorter drive with the shorter crossing, travellers using Tioman SpeedBoat can reach Tioman Island over 90 minutes faster than via Mersing.

route

Better road infrastructure

The LPT2 East Coast Highway is newer, less congested, and significantly safer than the routes leading to Mersing.

For travellers from Klang Valley, Genting Highlands, Bentong, Karak, Kuantan, and surrounding Pahang and Selangor regions, the Tanjung Gemok route is the most efficient gateway to Tioman Island.

Jetty stops

Tioman Island jetty stops served by our routes

Both our outbound and return routes serve the following five jetties on Tioman Island, each connecting to a different village or area.

  2. 2
Kampung Paya South coast. Known for shallow reef snorkelling, beachfront resorts, and a relaxed pace. Suited to families and snorkelling-focused trips.
  3. 3
Kampung Tekek Central Tioman. The island's main administrative hub, with duty-free shopping, the Tioman Airport, banks, clinics, and the largest concentration of accommodation. The most popular jetty for first-time visitors.
  4. 4
Air Batang (ABC) West coast, just north of Tekek. Backpacker-friendly with budget chalets, casual beachfront cafΓ©s, and a chilled atmosphere.
  5. 5

storm

Monsoon suspension: 1 November – 28 February

Tioman SpeedBoat operates daily from 1 March to 31 October each year. Like all ferry services to Tioman Island, our operations are suspended during peak monsoon season (typically 1 November to 28 February) in compliance with Malaysian Marine Department safety regulations.

We do not accept bookings for dates within the monsoon suspension period. Daily sailings resume on 1 March each year.

For travellers planning trips towards the end of the season (late October), we strongly recommend booking your return well in advance, as final sailings of the year typically sell out two to three weeks before suspension.
