Tioman Island and Destinations

Which Tioman jetty is best for first-time visitors? add

Tekek β€” the main hub with the island's airport, duty-free shops, ATMs, and the widest variety of accommodation from budget guesthouses to resorts.

arrow_forward Speedboat to Tekek
Which jetty is best for divers? add

Salang β€” Tioman's recognised dive hub with the highest concentration of PADI-certified dive operators and direct access to top dive sites.

arrow_forward Speedboat to Salang
Which jetty is best for families with children? add

Genting is the closest to the mainland and has several family-friendly resorts. Paya is popular for families who want calm shallow waters ideal for snorkelling.

Are there ATMs on Tioman Island? add

ATMs exist at Tekek but are limited and can run out of cash, especially on peak weekends. Other jetties have no ATMs at all. Withdraw sufficient cash on the mainland before sailing.

Is Tioman a duty-free zone? add

Yes. Tioman Island is a designated duty-free zone. Alcohol, chocolates, perfumes, and some electronics are significantly cheaper than on the mainland.

Can I fly to Tioman Island instead of taking the speedboat? add

SKS Airways operates limited flights from Subang Skypark Terminal (SZB) to Tioman Airport. Schedules are seasonal and limited. Most travellers use the speedboat β€” it is the most reliable, frequent, and affordable way to reach Tioman.

Is travel insurance recommended? add

Yes, strongly. We recommend cover for trip cancellation, baggage loss, and β€” most importantly β€” medical evacuation, as medical facilities on the island are very limited. Check that your policy covers water activities if you plan to dive or snorkel.

How is Tioman SpeedBoat from Tanjung Gemok different to Mersing operators? add

The Tanjung Gemok crossing takes approximately 90 minutes, comparable to Mersing's 90–120 minutes. The bigger differences are the vessel and the schedule: we operate modern full-cabin air-conditioned speedboats with 36 seats and a reliable daily schedule, whereas Mersing routes typically use larger open-deck ferries.
